Posted by one of the bloggers at Feminist Mormon Housewives: “My Prop 8 Manifesto<\/a>.” There are two stories about the Prop 8 campaign and passage that are rumbling through media stories and LDS blogs. One is the post-election targeting of Mormons and Mormon buildings for angry protests and boycotts, reflecting the view of those who opposed Prop 8 that Mormons are somehow uniquely responsible for its passage (conveniently ignoring the fact that 52% of the electorate voted in favor). The other is the difficulty that the official call to support Prop 8 caused within the LDS Church itself for Mormons who support gay marriage or who are on the fence, as seen in the FMH post.<\/p>\n

I have given a great deal of thought to the issue of Prop 8 and I sympathize greatly with both sides. Obviously, I was not eligible to vote on Prop 8, but if I had been, I would most likely have refrained from voting on it.
