“As the weekend warrior mother to a 6 and 4 year old, I spent
\nlast weekend battling the crowds at Disney<\/span> World.  <\/span>Like many Floridians, our family makes the
\nmost of a three day weekend by visiting the Mouse.  <\/span><\/span>As a
\nfamily that deals with a few food allergies, I find navigating theme park
\nrestaurants with food allergies or sensitivities can be incredibly frustrating,
\nhowever, over the last year or so, Disney<\/span> Parks are making great headway at
\ncatering to those with food allergies.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

On an allergy-friendly scale, I find Disney<\/span> World Parks are
\nfairly allergy-friendly destinations. <\/span>Considering
\nthat each the four Disney<\/span> World Parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom and
\nHollywood Studios) offer dining options for every purse and palate, they still recognize the value of offering allergy-friendly options across these dining
\noptions too.  <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

If dining at a quick counter service restaurant, I might ask
\nif a menu item contains wheat.  <\/span><\/span>Immediately, the counter person asks if I’m
\nasking because of an allergy.  <\/span>When I
\nreply that I am allergic to wheat, I find him or her flipping diligently
\nthrough a binder with all ingredients listed. 
\n<\/span>What a terrific way to relieve my fears of accidentally eating
\nwheat.  <\/span> <\/span>My favorite quick service dining location is
\nthe Sunshine Seasons Restaurant<\/b>
\nlocated in The Land Pavilion at EPCOT. 
\n<\/span>This location actually brings the chef right to the counter to share
\ningredients with guests.<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

When dining in a full service restaurant, I simply ask for
\ngluten free options and find the Head Chef of that restaurant at our table
\nwithin minutes.  <\/span>The Chef will point out
\nall of the gluten-free dishes and most of the time they’ll even offer to make
\nsomething completely original.  <\/span>The Yak & Yeti<\/b> in Animal Kingdom is my absolute
\nfavorite restaurant for their creative options.   <\/span>The
\nWave<\/b> located in the Contemporary Resort is another favorite – finer dining
\nthat’s family and allergy friendly – WOW! 
\n<\/span>The Nine Dragons<\/b> restaurant
\nin EPCOT has also prepared special dishes for us – they even have gluten-free
\nsoy sauce!  <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

Dessert is no exception! 
\n<\/span>Right down to the sweet endings, you’ll find the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor<\/b> on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom offers
\nsoy ice cream AND rice milk ice cream!<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

Another exciting service I recently learned about is the
\nDisney<\/span> Recipe ‘code’.  <\/span>When dining in any
\nof the restaurants across any of the Disney<\/span> Parks and Hotels, you can ask your
\nserver for the recipe.  <\/span>They’ll usually
\ntake down your email address and you’ll find them in your inbox within a day!  <\/span>I tried this at BOMA<\/b> in the Animal Kingdom Lodge….I was a little too excited and
\nasked for 5 of their recipes (BOMA is an African-inspired, gourmet buffet) and
\nsure enough, all 5 of those recipes were emailed to me!  <\/span>Their Coconut Seafood Curry is not to be
\nmissed!!<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

So…..whether you’re planning to visit Disney<\/span> World for a
\nweek, a day, or a quick jaunt over for dinner….rest assured, there are
\nwonderful, allergy-friendly options throughout the Parks!  <\/span>Now if I can only figure out how I can spend
