{"id":32,"date":"2010-11-16T08:58:28","date_gmt":"2010-11-16T08:58:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/medicinetomoveyou\/2010\/11\/job-stress-may-raise-womens-heart-attack-risk-by-almost-90.html"},"modified":"2010-11-16T08:58:28","modified_gmt":"2010-11-16T08:58:28","slug":"job-stress-may-raise-womens-heart-attack-risk-by-almost-90","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/medicinetomoveyou\/2010\/11\/job-stress-may-raise-womens-heart-attack-risk-by-almost-90.html","title":{"rendered":"Job Stress May Raise Women&#8217;s Heart Attack Risk by Almost 90%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A potentially life-saving study was plastered all over the<br \/>\ninternet yesterday.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Job Stress May Raise<br \/>\nWomen&#8217;s Heart Attack Risk by Almost 90%!<span>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<\/span>This is at the &#8216;preliminary assessment&#8217; state as the results have not<br \/>\nbeen fully analyzed- basically meaning the medical community is not willing to<br \/>\nstand behind this claim just yet.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>The<br \/>\nnews, although, seems quite convincing and promising as it was done after<br \/>\nprocessing 10 years of data on over 17,000 women.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>As the universe would have it, our very own Nurse<br \/>\nPractitioner Robin, is present at the American Heart Association Scientific<br \/>\nSessions 2010 meeting where this information was presented.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Why do I know she was likely the one in the<br \/>\nfront row of the lecture hall sitting at the edge of her seat at this<br \/>\nparticular presentation?<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Because this<br \/>\ntype of data &#8216;(health news&#8217; to you) is what any scientifically curious Integrative<br \/>\nMedicine health care provider seeks all the time.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Medicine is slow to accept change, in my<br \/>\nopinion.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>The process is arduous, but<br \/>\nunderstandably necessary many of the times.<span>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<\/span>But let me tell you, when modern evidence confirms what ancient healing<br \/>\ntraditions have known for thousands of years- Integrative Medicines docs do the<br \/>\nend zone dance (you know the one that looks cool and silly at the same time but<br \/>\nthe player doesn&#8217;t care one bit because the play and the achievement of the<br \/>\ntouchdown was all that was on his mind at that moment).<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The connection between the health of your brain and the<br \/>\nhealth of your heart is irrefutable.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>It<br \/>\nwill take some time until scientists comb through the data to decide whether or<br \/>\nnot they will change &#8220;The Guidelines.&#8221;<span>&nbsp; <\/span>These<br \/>\nare the commandments that physicians will follow as they work to guide you in<br \/>\nyour disease management.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>If you happen<br \/>\nto be one of every 3 women bound to have heart disease in their future, this<br \/>\nshould be a major treatment goal for you, your mother, your sister, your<br \/>\nfriend.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>The shocking statistic is that<br \/>\none woman dies each and every minute due to heart disease or its<br \/>\ncomplications.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>That&#8217;s crazy!!!<span>&nbsp; <\/span>How can this be happening in the United<br \/>\nStates of America, land of freedom and opportunity?<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Well, if it makes you feel any better (it<br \/>\ndoesn&#8217;t for most), in underdeveloped countries the rate of heart disease is 1<br \/>\nout of every 2 women.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>That&#8217;s still<br \/>\nshocks me as a physician battling diseases of lifestyle like heart disease!!!<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Each one of us as women are uniquely gifted with a sense of<br \/>\npurpose, compassion, dedication and unfortunately, this can be taken to<br \/>\ndangerous places with risk to our mental health.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>There is a line you cross when you go from<br \/>\ncaring to OVERcaring.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>You Superwomen<br \/>\nknow I am talking to you!
