This version cleans up the text, replacing the N-word (used 219 times) with &#8220;slave,&#8221; and &#8220;Indian&#8221; for &#8220;Injun.&#8221; The editor proposes that this edition will be suitable for younger people and general readers. Many scholars and others are taking offense at this new edition. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2011\/01\/06\/opinion\/06thu4.html?scp=1&amp;sq=twain%20mark%20finn%20editorial&amp;st=cse\">A <i>Times<\/i> editorial<\/a> denounced the effort, saying, &#8220;We are horrified.&#8221; <\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/money\/advertising\/2011-01-05-starbucks-logo_N.htm\">Starbucks Unveils New Logo<\/a><\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<form><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"starbucks-logos-5.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/94\/import\/photos\/starbucks-logos-5.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-right\" style=\"float: right;margin: 0pt 0pt 20px 20px\" height=\"298\" width=\"360\" \/><\/form>\n<p><i>USA Today<\/i> reports that Starbucks has unveiled a new logo, or, rather, a new version of the familiar logo. There will still be the white mermaid in a green circle. But there will no longer be the words STARBUCKS COFFEE. <\/p>\n<p>The logo change supports Starbucks&#8217; effort to move into non-English-speaking markets and to sell things other than coffee. Apparently, Starbucks is experimenting with more of a restaurant and wine-bar store.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m okay with the new log. As long as I can spot a Starbucks from the highway, I&#8217;m happy. <\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2011\/01\/06\/science\/earth\/06brfs-WORSTYEARONR_BRF.html?scp=1&amp;sq=manatees&amp;st=cse\">Manatees Dying Because of Climate Change . . . Too Cold!<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>\nThe <i>Times <\/i>passed along an AP story that claims that more manatees<br \/>\ndied this past year in Florida than in any year since the early 70s.<br \/>\nThe reason? He is currently working on a commentary on Ephesians that will be published by Zondervan in 2014.
