{"id":152,"date":"2009-04-08T18:13:02","date_gmt":"2009-04-08T18:13:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/lynnvsekulow\/2009\/04\/fear-not-one-world-government.html"},"modified":"2009-04-08T18:13:02","modified_gmt":"2009-04-08T18:13:02","slug":"fear-not-one-world-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/lynnvsekulow\/2009\/04\/fear-not-one-world-government.html","title":{"rendered":"Fear Not: One World Government Not Coming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jay, I&#8217;m happy to talk about your fears&nbsp;about creeping internationalism and the end of United States sovereignty.&nbsp; But wait!&nbsp;&nbsp;You provide no evidence that this administration wants to give up America&#8217;s constitutional form of government or even its currency (that fear was so last week anyway).&nbsp; Neither does it want to mind-meld with the other nations of the world during some giant Kumbaya moment.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s look at the slim evidence you provide.&nbsp; The Bush administration didn&#8217;t want to work with the United Nations Human Rights Council.&nbsp; Prior administrations had; the current one apparently will.&nbsp; Can you cite any evidence that our non-participation for the past 8 years improved the human rights landscape?&nbsp; I don&#8217;t think so.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.yale.edu\/faculty\/HKoh.htm\">Harold Koh<\/a> is a extraordinarily well qualified legal scholar with<br \/>\nimpeccable credentials in international law.&nbsp; His critics consistently<br \/>\nmisrepresent his views on the relationship between the United States<br \/>\nconstitution and international law.&nbsp; In what &#8220;situations&#8221; do you think<br \/>\nhe wants to subjugate US law to other principles?<\/p>\n<p>There is not<br \/>\none shred of evidence that Barack Obama wants us to be subservient to<br \/>\nany international body.&nbsp; The United States is not even a party to the<br \/>\nInternational Criminal Court thanks to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenation.com\/doc\/20050321\/williams\">bizarre ramblings<\/a> of John<br \/>\nBolton during his tenure at the United Nations during the Bush years.&nbsp;<br \/>\nIf we did accept involvement with the ICC, it would still not relegate<br \/>\nour constitution to some second-class status, nor deprive any U.S.<br \/>\ndefendants (in the unlikely event there would be any) of basic civil<br \/>\nliberties.<\/p>\n<p>Jay, honestly, the fact that Glenn Beck thinks<br \/>\nsomething is a problem is hardly a reason for anyone to jump on the<br \/>\napocalyptic bandwagon.&nbsp; Beck has built his career on fearmongering<br \/>\nabout things that aren&#8217;t a problem, while ignoring all evidence around<br \/>\nhim of the real challenges America faces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt\"><span><span style=\"color: black\"><font size=\"5\">To subscribe to &#8220;Lynn v.
