{"id":139,"date":"2009-03-06T14:42:44","date_gmt":"2009-03-06T14:42:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/lynnvsekulow\/2009\/03\/obama-keeps-abortion-not-cho.html"},"modified":"2009-03-06T14:42:44","modified_gmt":"2009-03-06T14:42:44","slug":"obama-keeps-abortion-not-cho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/lynnvsekulow\/2009\/03\/obama-keeps-abortion-not-cho.html","title":{"rendered":"Obama Keeps Abortion &#8211; Not Choice &#8211; Promises"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><font size=\"3\"><font color=\"#000000\"><font face=\"Calibri\">Barry, I am stunned by your defense of President Obama&#8217;s pro-abortion policies.<span>&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span>You say that you&#8217;re &#8216;delighted&#8217; that he&#8217;s making good on his promises in this area.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Come on, Barry.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Level with me.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>You know this is not about choice &#8211; it&#8217;s about abortion.<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><font size=\"3\"><font color=\"#000000\"><font face=\"Calibri\">I get it.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>So, under the guise of being &#8216;pro-choice&#8217; &#8211; President Obama will repeal a regulation that protects medical professionals &#8211; a measure that prevents doctors and nurses from being forced to violate their consciences &#8211; their deeply held religious beliefs &#8211; by providing abortions or take medical action that puts the life of the unborn at risk.<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\">I am sure there will be plenty of comments made during this 30-day period leading up to Obama&#8217;s repeal of the conscience clause rule.<span>&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span>Many young people understand the importance of this issue and we&#8217;re getting many comments of concern at a new website called the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beheardproject.com\/\">&#8216;Be Heard Project&#8217; <\/a>that we&#8217;ve launched at the ACLJ.<span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\">And I&#8217;m sure we&#8217;ll hear plenty of comments like this one from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/first100days\/2009\/03\/03\/obama-repeal-bush-abortion-regulation\/\">Sen. Tom Coburn<\/a>, a practicing physician, who told a reporter: &#8220;I will do nothing against my conscience in the practice of medicine ever regardless of what any law is at any time.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>And I can tell you that there are a lot of physicians that feel exactly that same way across the country.&#8221;<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\"><span><\/span><\/font><font size=\"3\"><font color=\"#000000\"><font face=\"Calibri\">I am hopeful other medical professionals will draw a line in the sand.<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><font size=\"3\"><font color=\"#000000\"><font face=\"Calibri\">Barry, if you want this to be about &#8216;choice&#8217; &#8211; then let&#8217;s give women a real &#8216;choice.&#8217;<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Let&#8217;s have women view the ultrasound of the unborn child &#8211; before making their &#8216;choice.&#8217;<span>&nbsp; <\/span>You&#8217;re in favor of giving women all the information possible to make this &#8216;choice&#8217; &#8211; right, Barry?<span>&nbsp; <\/span>In a survey conducted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.care-net.org\/\">Care Net<\/a>,&nbsp;a network of crisis pregnancy centers in the U.S. and Canada, some 72% of women who were initially &#8216;strong leaning&#8217; toward abortion decided against having an abortion after viewing the ultrasound.<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\">That&#8217;s a &#8216;choice&#8217; we can all live with &#8211; including the unborn.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Who stands up for them, Barry?<\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\"><span><span>To subscribe to &#8220;Lynn v.
