Apparently, there is.\u00a0According to <em>My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2<\/em> (2016, USA), now available on DVD\/Blu-ray and on demand.<\/p>\n<p>In it, being Greek means you have an extended family that is tight and unbreakable, and sometimes this is misunderstood by outsiders as strange.<\/p>\n<p>The film\u2019s writer, Nia Vardalos, who wrote the original, develops the family\u2019s story from the original film and brings it up to date.<\/p>\n<p>Nia also stars as Toula.<\/p>\n<p>Toula is older, she feels responsible for her family, and her marriage to Ian is lacking romance.<\/p>\n<p>In the original film, she was being courted and romance blossomed. Years have passed. Yes, we have seen this kind of thing before.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Toula\u2019s angst-ridden over the destiny of Paris, her daughter. Paris is about to leave home for the first time, as she is deciding what university to go to. Again, we have seen this kind of thing before.<\/p>\n<p>That may be something of a story-line, but much of the film is plot-less.<\/p>\n<p>However, there is a story in here somewhere.<\/p>\n<p>Toula\u2019s mother and father aren\u2019t officially married by the records, though they thought they were.\u00a0But they struggle to decide if they should get married, officially. Fifty years of being married in name has taken its toll.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently in Greek families, they sort of come around to sticking with each other despite their foibles.<\/p>\n<p>Toula, after feeling stuck in her lot, comes around to see that her commitment to family is still worthwhile.
