Poe Dameron is flawed and human, but being one of the best pilots, isn’t.

In Ex-Machina, Isaac played a top flight artificial programmer, who’s quite a bit unethical and controlling.

The mutant En Sabah Nur, played by Isaac, was not given his due in ancient Egypt, but comes back, in the 1980’s, with power on his mind, to secure his place in the world.

The mutant-god lusts for power. Power may be attractive, but it can affect people.

Power may take the form of taking advantage of someone or using them.

Power can take ownership of others, as in slavery.

Some people may like a bit of power play to spice up their day, to make life seem more happy-go-lucky than it is.

Mortality limits life, but if someone were powerful, then overcoming limitations becomes attractive, somehow.

Oscar Isaac is heavily made up as En Sabah Nur. It is an appropriate performance for the material and an underrated performance.

It is a performance that exudes power and presence, but the mutant-god is also ugly and distorted, at the extremes of corruption of powers.

But he seemed to have an innocent heart that was crying out. Underneath his quest for power was a child-like desire for recognition. If only he had done the right thing.

As Jesus said, and this has become part of our everyday language, the meek shall inherit the earth.

Alas, the mutant-god’s quest is futile. Lust for power does not last. For the sake of the world, that’s a good thing.

Let’s admit it and be honest. We all have a certain amount of power, but the point, is in how we use power to make choices, live our lives and influence others, for good.

Another view of X-Men Apocalypse… Oscar Isaac played the original mutant/god En Sabah Nur in X-Men Apocalypse (2016, USA).
