It occurred to me, after posting last, of the wasteful handling of food, a theme, as I see it, in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009).<\/p>\n
I could write about themes in other posts that I see in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, but I won\u2019t go into such detail.<\/p>\n
I could write about this movie\u2019s theme of the back-up plan in case plan A does not work. But then again life just happens and there is no back-up plan. The purity and clean sweep of putting together the broken pieces when all else fails can be exhilarating. It all comes back together unexpectedly.<\/p>\n
But the main theme of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs isn\u2019t that.<\/p>\n
Other themes in this film are sacrifice and salvation, being accepted for one\u2019s endeavors, and recognition for what one does.<\/p>\n
However, I think the problem with food waste certainly strikes me when I think about this film.<\/p>\n
Waste is not only scraps but good food that gets dumped that could have been eaten.<\/p>\n
Some businesses and companies make it their business to reuse their waste and give it away to people who need it. This is spreading what could have been dumped and never again used. Someone is getting advantage of it. These companies should be applauded.<\/p>\n
Nothing doesn’t have to be wasted if it’s good enough to be given away to someone who needs it. Unnecessary waste is just unnecessary.<\/p>\n
The problem with waste, and the ability to be moderate in food use, is the big thing in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. \u00a0The movie is putting up a mirror to how society and individuals use food. It asks if we could think twice about what we’re doing with food. I do think this film deserves a clap.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
