10 Cloverfield Lane<\/em> is the follow-up or companion piece to Cloverfield<\/em>. It came to theaters earlier in the year and went to DVD.<\/p>\n

It may or may not be an apocalyptic world in this science fiction thriller. It leaves what is actually happening to the world uncertain for most of the movie.<\/p>\n

Young adult Michelle is picked up by Howard who takes her to his bunker after a freakish accident took her out.<\/p>\n

When gaining consciousness, the question for Michelle, and Emmett who was in the bunker earlier, is if they should stay with Howard (John Goodman) in his bunker. They may try and escape to outside. But they are told by Howard there is chemical contamination and an invasion of aliens out there.<\/p>\n

They should stay with Howard, because that appears to be the safer option. Wouldn\u2019t they trust another human? Wouldn\u2019t they avoid the possibility of dying in the atmosphere?<\/p>\n

I would go with Howard, but when I got to know him better, he\u2019s quite untrustworthy because of his volatile nature. He\u2019s unpredictable and prone to outbursts at insignificant things.<\/p>\n

Now this leaves me reaching for outside, but if Howard is telling the truth (Michelle and Emmett can’t tell), then outside is dangerous.<\/p>\n

Michelle and Emmett give outside a go, but they have to get past Howard first.<\/p>\n

Getting outside is tricky. Outside is their last hope, though, and they will just have to face whatever is on the other side. It could be contaminated out there. Aliens could be there.<\/p>\n

Staying with Howard or going outside seem bound to fail. Inside, it\u2019s Howard, outside, it\u2019s contamination and aliens.<\/p>\n

What if contemplating the outside is better? You would go outside. But you must have the guts to go outside first. That\u2019s takes courage and faith. In 10 Cloverfield Lane<\/em> you got to take what you can get.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the sliver in the mayhem.<\/p>\n
