We are really only given two things in life that are purely ours: attention \u2013 the ability to give our attention to something \u2013 and the time to use that attention. That\u2019s really all we are given as human beings, and we tend to squander these gifts.<\/p>\n
The gifts that God, the Divine, that Love itself has given us to know what it means to be in a living relationship with what is eternal are mostly just thrown away\u2026 because we don\u2019t make use of our time — time that is dwindling away \u2013 to take conscious command of our own attention.<\/p>\n
We live waiting for something to happen, for something to take our attention — to give us something to think about, to stimulate us — and then we call the relationship between that movement of a passing situation and what it produces in us, \u201clife.\u201d That\u2019s not life! It is one kind of life \u2013 we all have it \u2013 but so does a dog, a deer, a bird, because they are commanded by the world around them to partake in the world they\u2019re handed by the world around them. We are meant to live in a world in ourselves that isn\u2019t commanded by the exterior world\u2026 because if a man or woman is commanded by the world around them, what is their life?<\/p>\n
Use your time. It\u2019s so precious. Don\u2019t be like most of the human beings on this planet who upon learning about the end of their mortality wonder, \u201cWhat on earth did I do with my life?\u201d, because in that moment, everything is washed away. That is what we fear most, and the fear is based on an incomplete understanding of what we have been given as a human being to slay that fear!<\/p>\n
God didn\u2019t put us here on this planet to serve our own thoughts and feelings; they\u2019re not even ours. We are put here for an entirely different purpose — a beautiful, noble, sacrificial purpose — but to understand that, we have to begin to gather the right understanding.<\/p>\n
For now, stay awake. Stay in your body. Don\u2019t let your mind drag you around, evaluating everything you see: \u201cI like this; I don\u2019t like that\u2026\u201d That\u2019s not life; it is literally time taking from you everything you\u2019ve been given to be the master of time, to be in your life appropriately.
