It’s to grow. It’s to learn about who and what we really are; nothing more, nothing less. But no one has taught you how to grow. You might think you know what it means to grow, but all you know is what it means to add things to yourself. Growth is not about adding things to you. It is seeing through the nature that believes it has to add anything to it.

Does forever need to add anything to itself? Do you think God has to add anything to Himself, or is He everything? And yet, if you examine yourself, without knowing it, all day long, what drives you is: “Gotta go, gotta do, gotta get, gotta settle this” — so that there is never a moment in which the real purpose of this life is fulfilled, which is for you to begin to become self-educating. Real gain comes from growth, because what you discover is that the self inside of you that is so dedicated to the pursuit of gain, can’t gain even itself, let alone what it promises.

When you start seeing the truth of this, moments come when suddenly you are faced with a problem and you don’t know what to do. You find yourself with nothing beneath you that you can stand on, but you are so tired of looking for the next thing on the way to winning something, that you realize: “Something holds me that has its own agenda — its own way of doing things and its own direction — and I don’t want to be held by that anymore. I don’t want to be possessed by what is beneath me. I want to be the possession of what is above me.” And you surrender.

In that moment of letting go, new wisdom replaces your former ideas with new insight. You are possessed by the knowledge that comes from heaven, and that new knowledge replaces the old knowledge. And if it’s a true change, you are possessed by it.

What do I mean by “possessed”? Well, did you create it? You were the one that didn’t know what to do! And when you finally don’t know what to do anymore, then you have to let go, and when you have to let go, suddenly everything that had been waiting for you above you, comes in.

The person that looks at life as possessing this or that, or that makes a gain game out of it, never lets go, because they don’t want to lose anything! They just come up with new answers, reconfigurations, new plans to change those around them.

Our work in any given moment, if nothing else, is to start to realize, “Look. I wonder what there is for me to learn right now, in this very moment unfolding before and within me.” Then there is no end to your growth in God. There is no end to your potential blossoming. There is no end to the wisdom that placed you here. [to be continued]

What are you here in this world for if it isn’t to gain things?
