Often we’re so busy trying find happiness we don’t recognize it when you have it. Happiness isn’t something you build by buying stuff or adding more bells and whistles to your life. It’s a feeling of inner contentment that comes from self-acceptance.

The more you love yourself, the more happiness will come into your life. When I was a DoorMat I didn’t think I could ever be happy. I tried buying things I wanted but except for the moment of the purchase, they didn’t make me happy. I was convinced that pleasing everyone I could would make me happy but back then I didn’t realize that I left the most important person out when I did my pleasing—me! How could I be happy if I ignored my own needs??

But that’s what many of us do. We please others at our own expense and then wonder why we’re rarely happy. The key to happiness is being kind to self. That sort of kindness nourishes the soul, which creates a feeling of contentment and leads to many good things. Below is a video I found that gives the benefits of being happy. Watch it and let it motivate you to give yourself more love so you can find the kind of happiness you DESERVE!!

As someone who lived without happiness for many years in DoorMatville, I can attest how much better life is when you build happiness with self-love. Being happy is healthy for you and feels so much better than being an unhappy people pleaser. Watch this video and see why giving yourself love and creating a true inner happiness is worth it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAUoClbSMp4&feature=related

***************

Take the 31 Days of Self-Love Challenge–a pledge to do something loving for yourself for the next 31 days–and get my book, How Do I Love Me? Let Me Count the Ways, a She's appeared on hundreds of TV and radio shows, including Oprah, Howard Stern, and Good Morning America and has been quoted in dozens of publications, including the New York Times, Chicago Sun-Times, Cosmopolitan, Redbook, Marie Claire, and Men¹s Health. After being a consummate People Pleaser who felt unworthy of getting her own needs met for many years, Daylle found a path of self-love that enabled her to build her self-esteem and reinvent herself into a dual career. She learned to get taken seriously without being overtly assertive when she became one of the first women to start an independent record label (on a dare!) and learned to play ball nicely and successfully in an industry dominated by men. To help independent musicians empower themselves, Daylle writes music business books for Billboard/Random House, including the very popular Start & Run Your Own Record Labe and I Don't Need a Record Deal! Daylle's books have been translated into over 10 languages and are popular around the world. She speaks for colleges, organizations and corporations. Through her company, Project Self-Empowerment, Daylle creates programs and materials to help people empower themselves. One goal is to raise the money to self-publish her book, How Do I Love Me? Let Me Count the Ways and give it away for free in colleges and through organizations, to give thanks for all her blessings. Daylle uses her writing and speaking to help others find the kind of contentment and empowerment that she has.
["GET
https://www.beliefnet.com/columnists/lessonsfromarecoveringdoormat/wp-json/wp/v2/posts/3060/revisions
https://www.beliefnet.com/columnists/lessonsfromarecoveringdoormat/wp-json/wp/v2/posts/3060/revisions/3067
https://www.beliefnet.com/columnists/lessonsfromarecoveringdoormat/wp-json/wp/v2/categories?post=3060
