{"id":1758,"date":"2024-06-03T13:33:45","date_gmt":"2024-06-03T17:33:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/latestnews\/?p=1758"},"modified":"2024-06-03T13:33:45","modified_gmt":"2024-06-03T17:33:45","slug":"dallas-jenkins-on-the-chosen-standing-with-israel-season-four-streaming-premiere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/latestnews\/2024\/06\/03\/dallas-jenkins-on-the-chosen-standing-with-israel-season-four-streaming-premiere\/","title":{"rendered":"Dallas Jenkins on \u2018The Chosen\u2019 Standing with Israel, Season Four Streaming Premiere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the 11<sup>th<\/sup> annual K-Love Fan Awards on Sunday, May 26, \u201cThe Chosen\u201d creator, producer, director, and writer Dallas Jenkins proclaimed the show\u2019s support for Israel, stressing that it \u201cis a Jewish show.\u201d Said during an acceptance speech for the Film of the Year award, the speech garnered thunderous applause and a standing ovation from the crowd at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1761\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1761\" style=\"width: 724px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1761\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/452\/2024\/05\/chosen-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"724\" height=\"408\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1761\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dallas Jenkins (left) speaks with Jonathan Roumie on the set of &#8220;The Chosen.&#8221; Image courtesy of 130 Agency.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Backstage, Jenkins reiterated the show\u2019s strong Jewish roots, which are inspired by the biblical source material.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s shocking to me sometimes to go around the world and to recognize that there are people who don&#8217;t understand that Jesus was Jewish and that the roots of our faith are in Judaism,\u201d he said. \u201cOne of the really beautiful things about the show that we&#8217;ve seen is \u2014even in the country of Israel, which would traditionally be a little bit resistant toward a Jesus show\u2014 it\u2019s growing rapidly there because we are honoring Jewish prayers, Jewish rituals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jenkins continued that the biblical Jesus wasn\u2019t \u201crepresenting a new thing but He was honoring His heritage.\u201d He also said the country of Israel and even the Jewish people appreciate the fact that the show celebrates Jesus\u2019 Judaic roots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a beautiful thing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Soon after the awards, Jenkins made the announcement legions of fans have been waiting for\u2014\u201cThe Chosen\u201d season four will begin streaming on Sunday, June 2, with the additional seven episodes releasing Sundays and Thursdays in June.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe wait is finally over,\u201d he said. \u201cThe response from those who&#8217;ve seen Season four in theaters was that this is our best season, so I can&#8217;t wait to deliver these episodes free and easy to the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Season four, which was delayed as &#8220;The Chosen&#8221; addressed rights issues with Angel Studios, will now stream <a href=\"https:\/\/watch.thechosen.tv\/page\/season%204%20(coming%20soon!)\">exclusively for free on \u201cThe Chosen\u201d mobile app<\/a>, following a groundbreaking release in theaters through Fathom Events in February and March. It was the most successful theatrical launch for the show, released in 31 territories around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to offer fans a chance to see it on the big screen together in theaters,\u201d Jenkins said. \u201cBut I&#8217;ve maintained the show will always ultimately be available free and easy, and we&#8217;re now ready for our live streams, which are going to be bonkers this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The synopsis for season four is: \u201cClashing kingdoms. Rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving Him to carry the burden alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus\u2019 growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable\u2014ally with their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus\u2019 message turns violent, He\u2019s left with no alternative but to demand his followers RISE UP.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, Jenkins said that filming for season five is a third of the way done. The next portion specifically after the awards was to complete Holy Week, \u201cthe most impactful week in the history of the world, which includes the greatest moment of worship in history, Jesus\u2019 triumphant entry.\u201d The season will also depict Jesus turning over the tables at the temple.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne thing that doesn\u2019t change is it never gets easier,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd I think that\u2019s okay. We\u2019re recreating and trying to portray some of the most important moments in history and the most important man in history. We want to get it right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Particularly, the upcoming season six which will portray the crucifixion, will not be an easy watch, but Jenkins said the series will not shy away from it or \u201csugar coat it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not going to try to sugarcoat it or make it easy on the eyes,\u201d he said. \u201cI think we need to as believers go through it and experience the best we can and that\u2019s what makes what He did for us that much more impactful and the ending that much sweeter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The final season seven, he says, will be an \u201cuplifting one\u201d that centers on the Resurrection. That will officially wrap up the global phenomenon\u2019s main series, but spinoffs or tie-in series may be on the horizon after that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis show, the mothership show is only going to be seven seasons and then I think we&#8217;re all gonna\u2019 nap for about a year,\u201d he said. \u201cIf God wills, I would love to tell Bible stories for the rest of my life, point people to Jesus,
