And:

The Bush administration may have committed “extensive” violations of a law requiring that certain records be preserved, said the committee’s Democratic chairman, adding that the panel will deepen its probe into the use of political e-mail accounts.
The committee’s interim report said the number of White House officials who had RNC e-mail accounts, and the number of messages they sent and received, were more extensive than previously realized.

Of course they did. And if the Democrats on Capitol Hill want to keep investigating this they obviously can. What they will find, however, is a whole lot of nothing because it is hard to learn more about something that doesn’t exists and these RNC emails most assuredly do not exist. Some RNC folks have long ago taken care of that. Whether there was anything wrong with doing it is a question – they were political and not governmental accounts and therefore not subject to the same sort of rules.
The larger point, however, is on Congressional Democrats – focus on doing something positive for a change. Everyone knows the Dems are good at attacking the Bush Administration’s many, many failures and faults and mistakes. Great. But the reason that the American people dislike the Dems even more than President Bush (and that is saying something) is because all they are doing is attacking him. They should broaden their horizons a bit – how about faith-based initiatives for the poor? How about more money for integrating the 600,000 prisoners coming back into society? How about more money for HIV/AIDS in Africa? Anything else, please.
