I look like a "Doug."<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I’d never heard of Doug Giles<\/a> before. Which I think is a good thing. The ClashRadio.com creator and host probably wouldn’t like me much. He’d probably shoot me. But anyway, I found one of his columns over at Christian Nightmares<\/a> and so I thought I’d introduce you to this gem of a human. I think he’s human anyway…<\/p>\n

Anyway… here’s a bit from his essay entitled… “Christianity with Cojones<\/a>.” Here’s his piece…<\/p>\n

Have you ever asked yourself, \u201cSelf, why do some churches look more like the bra and panty aisle at Wal-Mart rather than a battalion of men poised to plunder the powers of darkness?\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Have you EVER asked yourself that question? Of course not. Because it’s a ridiculous collection of words… he continues…<\/p>\n

Certainly, the lack of men in church is not difficult to see.\u00a0 Just go to church on any given Sunday and count the number of ladies in the pews versus the number of men.\u00a0 The result?\u00a0 Well, you\u2019re suddenly slapped in the face with the cheap whiskey-like reality that men are avoiding church like Pelosi avoids reason.<\/em><\/p>\n

So why do most men avoid church?\u00a0 \ufeff<\/em><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the veneer stripped-away answer: going to church for the majority of men is lame and sports about the same appeal as being asked to go rollerblading with Adam Lambert. Yep, church, for most men, has not only become irrelevant\u2014it has also become effeminate. Hanging out in church for most extra-Y chromosomes seems unmanly and most men more than anything wannabe a cowboy. <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We definitely do need to return to the Christianity of our forefathers. The kind that allowed us to conquer a continent. You know. . . “Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.” Christianity is under attack like never before. America has always been the shining city on the hill. But enemies from without and from within are trying to destroy it. We must be soldiers of Christ…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Doug is right about current church music….basically all smarmy emotionalism, without any real substance. To get back to real “meaty” music, non-liturgical churches should strongly consider a return to the liturgy. At one time, that was the music of ALL churches (albeit with some regional variations).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But anyway… my church doesn’t seem to lack in men or women. It seems pretty even, or at least, withing a few percentage points… but most of the men (thankfully!) aren’t like Doug…<\/p>\n
