If &#8220;I&#8221; have not, then vindicate me. Notice the words of Psalm 7 (after the jump), beginning especially now in v. 6.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>First, David prays for YHWH to rise (v. 6). Stand up, rise up, and wake up!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Second, David understands God to be Judge over the whole world, and God is just and aroused by those who oppose his will.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Third, David expects God to judge in his favor: to judge that David, and not his accusing enemies, is the faithful one, the one who has acted with integrity.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Fourth, one of the big lines in this psalm is that David knows someday, somehow, justice must be established: &#8220;<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">May the evil deeds of the wicked come to an end!&nbsp;But make the innocent secure,&nbsp;O righteous God,&nbsp;you who examine inner thoughts and motives!&#8221; (v. 9).<\/span><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"webkit-indent-blockquote\">\n<div>\n<h1><font color=\"#333333\" face=\"arial, helvetica, hirakakupro-w3, osaka, 'ms pgothic', sans-serif\" size=\"3\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 13px\"><br \/><\/span><\/font><\/h1>\n<p class=\"psasuper\">A musical composition by David, which he sang to the&nbsp;<span class=\"sc\" style=\"font-variant: small-caps\">Lord<\/span>&nbsp;concerning a Benjaminite named Cush.<\/p>\n<p class=\"poetry\"><span class=\"vref\" style=\"font-weight: bold\">7:1<\/span>&nbsp;O&nbsp;<span class=\"sc\" style=\"font-variant: small-caps\">Lord<\/span>&nbsp;my God, in you I have taken shelter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"poetry\">Deliver me from all who chase me! Rescue me!<\/p>\n<p class=\"poetry\"><span class=\"vref\" style=\"font-weight: bold\">7:2<\/span>&nbsp;Otherwise they will rip me to shreds like a lion;<\/p>\n<p class=\"poetry\">they will tear me to bits and no one will be able to rescue me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"poetry\"><span class=\"vref\" style=\"font-weight: bold\">7:3<\/span>&nbsp;O&nbsp;<span class=\"sc\" style=\"font-variant: small-caps\">Lord<\/span>&nbsp;my God, if I have done what they say,<\/p>\n<p class=\"poetry\">or am guilty of unjust actions,<\/p>\n<p class=\"poetry\"><span class=\"vref\" style=\"font-weight: bold\">7:4<\/span>&nbsp;or have wronged my ally,<\/p>\n<p class=\"poetry\">or helped his lawless enemy,<\/p>\n<p class=\"poetry\"><span class=\"vref\" style=\"font-weight: bold\">7:5<\/span>&nbsp;may an enemy relentlessly chase me and catch me;<\/p>\n<p class=\"poetry\">may he trample me to death<\/p>\n<p class=\"poetry\">and leave me lying dishonored in the dust.
