We turn today to Isaiah in our study of the word “gospel.”
\nWe notice today once again that “good news” is a verbal announcement; it is announced to those who are awaiting on God for justice; and it declares such things as “Here is your God!” and peace and salvation; and it focuses on the poor and marginalized.
\nIs. 40:9 \tGet you up to a high mountain,
\nO Zion, herald of good tidings;
\nlift up your voice with strength,
\nO Jerusalem, herald of good tidings,
\nlift it up, do not fear;
\nsay to the cities of Judah,
\n?Here is your God!?<\/strong>
\nIs. 41:27 \tI first have declared it to Zion,
\nand I give to Jerusalem a herald of good tidings.
\nIs. 52:7 \t How beautiful upon the mountains
\nare the feet of the messenger who announces peace<\/strong>,
\nwho brings good news<\/strong>,
\nwho announces salvation<\/strong>,
\nwho says to Zion, ?Your God reigns.?<\/strong>
\nIs. 60:6 \tA multitude of camels shall cover you,
\nthe young camels of Midian and Ephah;
\nall those from Sheba shall come.
\nThey shall bring gold and frankincense,
\nand shall proclaim the praise of the LORD<\/strong>.
\ns. 61:1 \t The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
\nbecause the LORD has anointed me;
\nhe has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed<\/strong>,
\nto bind up the brokenhearted<\/strong>,
\nto proclaim liberty to the captives<\/strong>,
