We finish our series on “gospel” today, and we do so by looking briefly at three references to “gospel” in Revelation:<\/p>\n
10: 5<\/a> <\/span>Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. 6<\/a> <\/span>And
\nhe swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens
\nand all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea
\nand all that is in it, and said, “There will be no more delay! 7<\/a> <\/span>But
\nin the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the
\nmystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced<\/b> [gospeled<\/b>] to his
\nservants the prophets.”<\/p>\n14:6<\/a> <\/span>Then
\nI saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel<\/b> to
\nproclaim to those who live on the earth-to every nation, tribe,
\nlanguage and people. 7<\/a> <\/span>He
\nsaid in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of
\nhis judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the
\nsea and the springs of water.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\nTwo simple points:<\/p>\n1. The gospel was announced to the prophets in advance; the seer calls it the “mystery of God.”
2. The gospel is for all human beings and it is a summons to “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of
\nhis judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the
\nsea and the springs of water.”<\/p>\nWe are to understand faith in the gospel and obeying the gospel and fearing God\/giving God glory, and worshiping the God of Jesus Christ as overlapping elements of the proper response of humans to the gospel itself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
