Many of Paul’s references to heaven repeat what we have seen elsehwere. Thus:
\nGal. 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven<\/strong> should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let that person be under God?s curse!
\nEph. 1:10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment?to bring unity to all things in heaven<\/strong> and on earth under Christ.
\nEph. 3:15 from whom every family in heaven<\/strong> and on earth derives its name.
\nEph. 6:9 \tAnd masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven<\/strong>, and there is no favoritism with him.
\nBut this text adds a bit to our sketch:
\nEph. 4:10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens<\/strong>, in order to fill the whole universe.
\nIf the first four emphasize heaven as God’s abode or as paired with earth to encompass the universe, Eph 4:10 adds something to this: Here we find Christ ascending above the universe: “higher than all the heavens.” The language strikes an image of the superiority and dominion of Christ over all creation. It also suggests more than one heaven: that is, probably back to the three of 2 Cor 12:2 (or even more).
