Chris Wright does just that in a new book, but before I get to it, a brief note. When I first began teaching our survey of the Bible course at NPU, I was in search of books that put things together. I found Chris Wright&#8217;s <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FKnowing-Jesus-Through-Old-Testament%2Fdp%2F0830816933%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks%26qid%3D1211653890%26sr%3D1-2&amp;tag=jescre-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325\">Knowing Jesus Through the Old Testament<\/a><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=jescre-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important;margin:0px !important\" \/><\/em> about as good a book as I could find &#8212; even if I had my questions about the book. There was more in store, I thought, for Chris Wright&#8217;s approach. I was not surprised when he came out with &#8230; <!--more|inline--><br \/>\n<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FMission-God-Unlocking-Bibles-Narrative%2Fdp%2F0830825711%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks%26qid%3D1211654158%26sr%3D1-1&amp;tag=jescre-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325\">The Mission of God<\/a><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=jescre-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important;margin:0px !important\" \/><\/em>, which is the textbook I will use next year with my honors students. It&#8217;s a big book.<br \/>\nSo I was excited to see that he had come out with a little version of some of the themes in the big book. That book landed on my desk recently and it is called <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FSalvation-Belongs-Our-God-Celebrating%2Fdp%2F0830833064%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks%26qid%3D1211654264%26sr%3D1-7&amp;tag=jescre-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325\">Salvation Belongs to Our God<\/a><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=jescre-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important;margin:0px !important\" \/><\/em>.<br \/>\nHere are reasons you need to read Chris Wright:<br \/>\n1. He is one of the few authors today putting the whole Bible together in accessible language.<br \/>\n2. His way of putting the Bible together is not simply historical and not simply theological, but is always and always missional.<br \/>\n3. <em>Salvation Belongs to our God<\/em> ties together the Bible around the theme of God&#8217;s redemptive work &#8212; anyone who reads the Bible and doesn&#8217;t talk about &#8220;salvation&#8221; is wiping out the big idea. Wright keeps his eye on the big ideas of salvation.<br \/>\n4. There are group study questions at the end of each chp (I prefer them at the back of a book).<br \/>\n5. His chp on personal salvation is one of the best things I&#8217;ve seen in a long time &#8212; but I&#8217;ll not spoil it for you. He makes personal salvation part of God&#8217;s big work of redemption.<br \/>\n6.
