I don’t want to drag all those comments over here, but I would like to say this. I am grieved that some readers\/commenters could be self-confessedly proud of being a grace grinder. Can we be proud of thumbing people into the ground as we speak of grace?
\nGrace grinders found the woman caught in sin and they carried stones to the public spot where they could show their fidelity to Torah; the grace of Jesus was to say “where are the stones? where are the stone throwers? go and sin no more.”
\nSo, let me say it again: grace is God’s benevolence toward us, we who are cracked Eikons<\/em>, in order to restore us to union with God and communion with others, for the good of others and the world. The assumption of grace is our crackedness; the point and purpose of grace is our restoration. If we dwell on our crackedness, we fail to see the glories of grace. If we see what grace does to us and for us, which does bring glory to God, then we can dwell in God’s embracing grace. But, if we choose to be the accusing finger that must reduce humans to humiliation in order to speak of grace, we fail the love God shows for us in Jesus.
\nLet me say it again:
\nGrace grinders still find the woman caught in sin and they still are carrying stones to the public spot where they can still show their fidelity to Torah; the grace of Jesus continues to say “where are the stones? where are the stone throwers? go and sin no more.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Over at Jolly Blogger there has some been discussion.
