Randall Balmer, professor at Columbia University, will be on campus at NPU today to give the Zarley Lectures<\/a>. Balmer is an expert on American religious history and has become a specialist on the relationship of evangelicalism to cultural forces — and things are changing<\/a>.. The lectures, Monday and Tuesday at 3:30 at the chapel at North Park, are open to the public. Here are few of my favorites of his books:

\nI think what I like about Randy Balmer’s work the most is the way he can hold evangelicalism in his hand and inspect it from a variety of angles.
\nThe first book of Balmer’s that I read was his joyous romp across America to investigate the diversity of evangelicalism; this book was the foundation then for a TV program. Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory<\/a>\"\"<\/em>
\nRandy’s most recent book, and the basis for his lectures at NPU, is a book that examines the relationship of American evangelicalism to American politics. Thy Kingdom Come<\/a>\"\"<\/em>
