So, I was pleased to see that Nan Lewis Doerr and Virginia Stem Owens have now published <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FPraying-Beads-Daily-Prayers-Christian%2Fdp%2F0802827276%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks%26qid%3D1193281716%26sr%3D1-1&amp;tag=jescre-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325\">Praying with Beads<\/a><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=jescre-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important;margin:0px !important\" \/><\/em>. Ever since I developed the Jesus Creed stuff and then wrote <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FPraying-Church-Following-Jesus-Hourly%2Fdp%2F1557254818%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks%26qid%3D1193281905%26sr%3D1-1&amp;tag=jescre-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325\">Praying with the Church<\/a><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=jescre-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important;margin:0px !important\" \/><\/em>I have paid attention to books on prayer like this one. <!--more|inline--><br \/>\nQuestion: What is your experience, if any, with praying with beads?<br \/>\nThis book reveals a growing tendency among Anglicans to pray with beads and it begins with a nice diagram of beads and then proceeds to provide a year&#8217;s worth of prayers. Each prayer session includes a reflection on the cross, an invitatory prayer, a cruciform prayer, a prayer for the weeks beads. Then it moves to the Lord&#8217;s Prayer (skipping over my hope that someone will begin to add the Jesus Creed to re-unite us more with our Jewish past) and another cross prayer. There are also noon and evening variations.<br \/>\nThe genius of this book is the ability to get each day on one page.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll take this book to my office one of these days and say my prayers with the beads to see how this works &#8212; but one need not have beads to use this book.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I confess I have never prayed with beads, either the Orthodox kind or the Catholic kind.
