My subjects are the emerging movement and atonement.<!--more|inline--><br \/>\nA good conversation at pomusings with <a href=\"http:\/\/cleave.blogs.com\/pomomusings\/2006\/10\/a_sense_of_call.html\">Adam Cleveland<\/a> on what is a &#8220;call&#8221;?<br \/>\nOK &#8212; I have to admit that I&#8217;m glad the Yankees and Mets are out of the running, even if I&#8217;m tired of seeing the Cardinals show up for the last dance with their legs tired. This year&#8217;s World Series, once again, will go to the American League. Tigers. They&#8217;re the best team in baseball this year.<br \/>\nA Northern Harrier must live in the trees around our home because I&#8217;ve seen him lately. He visits our bird feeder, which is about like Michael Jordan showing up to play hoops at a local outdoor basketball court. The Northern Harrier has a beautiful tail. We also saw an American Bittern on our walk around Butler Lake Thursday evening.<br \/>\nLeRon Shults has a blog; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leronshults.typepad.com\/\">check him out<\/a>.<br \/>\nGood, the Southern Baptists are debating the rise of complementarianism among many of its influential leaders. Here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sbcoutpost.com\/2006\/10\/19\/women-in-ministry-part-2\/\">the second post<\/a> of two in which you can witness the debate.<br \/>\n1. A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2006\/WORLD\/europe\/10\/15\/pope.saints.ap\/index.html\">Hoosier saint<\/a>.<br \/>\n2. A blog about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tableandfire.com\/\">Saturday night talk at IBC<\/a> with some discussion.<br \/>\n3. Ted is <a href=\"http:\/\/communityofjesus.blogspot.com\/2006\/10\/rest-and-responsibility.html\">resting<\/a>. Good thoughts, Ted.<br \/>\n4. On the decline of houses in the USA of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/time\/nation\/article\/0,8599,1547431,00.html?cnn=yes\">married vs. unmarried<\/a>: now below 50%.<br \/>\n5. Definitely <a href=\"http:\/\/thekitchen.wordpress.com\/2006\/10\/01\/teaching-without-a-preacher\/\">emerging in kiwi land<\/a> and in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tallskinnykiwi.com\/tallskinnykiwi\/2006\/10\/tiny_is_the_new.html\">UK<\/a>.<br \/>\n6. John Frye has some innovative ideas about <a href=\"http:\/\/jesustheradicalpastor.blogspot.com\/2006\/10\/jesus-plays-yahwehs-part-in-psalm-23.html\">Psalm 23<\/a>.<br \/>\n7. The good news for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2006\/EDUCATION\/10\/18\/unhappy.achievers.ap\/index.html\">math teachers<\/a>: making students happy and confident isn&#8217;t the point.<br \/>\n8. Do you know <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wineskins.org\/\">Wineskins<\/a>?<br \/>\n9. What does it mean to be missional? Ask <a href=\"http:\/\/erika.haub.net\/casualties\/10\/\">Erika Haub<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/thegreatgiveaway.blogspot.com\/2006\/10\/is-ma-in-missional-church-studies.html\">David Fitch<\/a>. And also I have to mention the fine work now at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblical.edu\/pages\/discover\/mission-statement.htm\">Biblical Seminary<\/a>. There is no reason here to get into who&#8217;s doing it the best, but Biblical Seminary is entirely committed to the missional focus of seminary education.<br \/>\nSports:<br \/>\nThe Cubs announce the new manager will be Lou Piniella. I won&#8217;t bring up again on this blog that the last ex-Yankee whom the Cubs hired was Lou Michaels.<br \/>\nOn the Bears game &#8230; It is easy for us to slip back into the old hang-dog Bears ways, but I&#8217;m giving the fellas another two weeks to show they&#8217;ve got what it takes. I still think they&#8217;ll win 14 games. Last week I thought it would be easy; now I&#8217;m not so confident. (Still better than cheering for the Packers who wear those silly cheese-head thingies.) I wrote this in the 4th Quarter of the MOST UNBELIEVABLE BEARS WIN IN HISTORY.
