(p1)"},"content":{"rendered":"<form mt:asset-id=\"18733\" class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/jazztheologian\/cityofman.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"cityofman.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/assets_c\/2010\/10\/cityofman-thumb-225x352-18733.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"352\" class=\"mt-image-right\" style=\"float: right; margin: 0 0 20px 20px;\" \/><\/a><\/form>\n<p>I&#8217;m reading a new book about religion and politics. &nbsp;More specifically,what role should our Christian faith play in our politics? &nbsp;It&#8217;s called, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/City-Man-Religion-Politics-New\/dp\/0802458572\">City of Man: &nbsp;Religion and Politics in a New Era<\/a>, by Michael Gerson and Peter Wehner.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The fundamental question they are seeking to answer is this: &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"webkit-indent-blockquote\" style=\"margin: 0 0 0 40px; border: none; padding: 0px;\">\n<div><i>&#8220;So what does it mean to be a Christian citizen in history&#8217;s most influential nation; in a world marked by growing interconnection, danger, and need; in a time of bitter domestic polarization and economic stress?&#8221;<\/i><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Great question! How we answer it will not only effect the way we vote this November but how we live regardless of who is in office.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I&#8217;ll interact with their ideas in future posts. &nbsp;For now, one of the most striking comments that I&#8217;ve read so far is that, in their opinion, the religious right is on it&#8217;s deathbed.
