Experiences<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Thousands of people have packed into &#8216;standing room only&#8217;<br \/>\nJazz Theologian Live! experiences.<span>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<\/span>They are a beautiful marriage of the spoken word with jazz, soul, and<br \/>\ngospel music in which seeker and seasoned Christian alike are invited to<br \/>\ncompose a jazz-shaped faith.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Thus,<br \/>\ngiving way to an experience of the gospel unlike any other method, movement, or<br \/>\nstructure ever could.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Using<br \/>\nmetaphors found in jazz these experiences reveal the breath-taking<br \/>\npossibilities for the body of Christ and a more genuine expression of our<br \/>\npersonal faith.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/jazztheologian\/assets_c\/2010\/04\/Robert4_image015-12957.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/109\/import\/assets_c\/2010\/04\/Robert4_image015-thumb-150x224-12957.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"224\" alt=\"Robert4_image015.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-right\" style=\"float: right;margin: 0 0 20px 20px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">They are held in a local jazz venue and the doors open to a<br \/>\nline of people formed outside.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>The<br \/>\nexpectant crowd makes their way in, orders food and drinks and enjoys<br \/>\nconversation with one another.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>The<br \/>\nband begins to play a set of music slowly drawing in the crowd.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>I then take the stage with the band and<br \/>\nexplain that you don&#8217;t have to be a jazz musician, or even a jazz connoisseur,<br \/>\nto compose a jazz-shaped faith.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>I<br \/>\nask, &#8220;What if Ralph Ellison was right when he said that all of American life is<br \/>\njazz-shaped?&#8221;<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/p>\n<p><!--EndFragment--><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-top: 0px;margin-right: 0px;margin-bottom: 0.75em;margin-left: 0px;border-top-width: 0px;border-right-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-left-width: 0px;border-style: initial;border-color: initial;padding-top: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-bottom: 0px;padding-left: 0px;font-size: 1em;font-weight: normal\">Jazz can help us understand Jesus, his vision for those who follow him, and his heartbeat for a world that is badly out of sync.<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span>After attending, Wayne, a pastor said that he was taken &#8220;on the Gospel&#8217;s journey through the depths of human blues to the heights of the toe-tapping syncopating jazz improvisation.<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span>It is an awesome one-of-a-kind experience that both entertains and impacts.<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span>I invited my entire staff after experiencing it for myself.&#8221;<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span>Married couple, Michael and Catherine said, &#8220;We found the rhythm of God&#8217;s beat together.<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span>We listened, prayed and talked together to learn how to perfom with God in concert together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-top: 0px;margin-right: 0px;margin-bottom: 0.75em;margin-left: 0px;border-top-width: 0px;border-right-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-left-width: 0px;border-style: initial;border-color: initial;padding-top: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-bottom: 0px;padding-left: 0px;font-size: 1em\"><b><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Resident Jazz Theologian Live!
