Numbers were down in our services because of the unusually low temperatures that we are experiencing in the Mile High City. An usher informed me that there was a man present who had just lost his wife in the past few days. I sought him out, making my way down the somewhat crowded pew, and when he saw me he came undone. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As the congregation sang, we prayed and wept. The last song of the worship set was almost finished and I had to make my way to the platform. I tried to stay on script with the announcements but all I could think of was Henry’s broken heart. I stopped and told everyone about his pain and how when one of us is hurt then all of us are wounded. Those sitting around him laid hands on him and we all prayed. Our worship leader began singing, "It is Well," hundreds of us wept collectively.<\/p>\n
The Spirit prompted me to talk about heaven, the cross and the love of God. Everyone bowed their heads and I invited anyone who had never given their life to Christ to do so, to seek Him in that moment. I will never forget the over twenty hands that were lifted high when I asked if there was anyone who had asked Christ into their heart for the first time. <\/p>\n
I am amazed at our God! I saw a service with a low turn out because of the cold, He saw a man mourning the death of his wife and hearts that were receptive the gospel.<\/p>\n
May our worship and service unto the Lord never become so scripted that we can not improvise as the Spirit leads. Too much is at stake.<\/p>\n
