God is still hiding things from us and this creates mystery and tensions for us that we will not be able to resolve.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&quot;It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.&quot;&nbsp; Pr. 25.2<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He goes on to argue that our goal in finding the hidden things of God is not to remove the mystery in the process.&nbsp; Lucas says that we need, &quot;faith that is willing to believe what God says even if it seems contradictory.&quot; <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I find this so refreshing because so much of what Christians try to do is to resolve anything that seems contradictory in our Bibles.&nbsp; As soon as we see two passages that seem to contradict we work hard to prove why they are a &quot;seeming&quot; or &quot;apparent&quot; contradiction.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">On the one had this has given us a Bible that we can believe in, but on the other hand, has it removed the reasons to believe in the God it proclaims?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>James Lucas in his book, &quot;Knowing the Unknowable God:&nbsp; How Faith Thrives on Divine Mystery,&quot; calls it the shocking truth.&nbsp; What is it?
