{"id":378,"date":"2007-05-18T02:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-05-18T02:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/jazztheologian\/2007\/05\/a-father-to-the-2.html"},"modified":"2007-05-18T02:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-05-18T02:00:00","slug":"a-father-to-the-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/jazztheologian\/2007\/05\/a-father-to-the-2.html","title":{"rendered":"A Father to the Fatherless:  The Jazz Connection (p4)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s the jazz connection in all of this.<\/p>\n<p>How do we find unity in the body of Christ?&nbsp; Some say, city-wide prayer summits and worship services.&nbsp; Other churches have formal partnerships with other fellowships and swap pastors occasionally.&nbsp; I have nothing against these approaches and have (and will) participated in them.&nbsp; I&#8217;d like to add another:&nbsp; <u><em><strong>Let&#8217;s find a song we can all play and improvise upon.<\/strong><\/em><\/u><\/p>\n<p>For Ensemble Community to exist in the church we need to allow Presbyterians to be Presbyterian and Baptists to be Baptist.&nbsp; While we will not agree on baptism we can still play in concert with and for each other.&nbsp; Someone needs to call out a song.<\/p>\n<p>I think that the care for orphans of our country may be one of those songs that all churches can play.&nbsp; If it is, then we will see a unity in the body of Christ unlike anything we have ever experienced.&nbsp; Unity without uniformity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u><em>The cry of the orphan may be the opening notes to a groove that will bring us together in concert with and for each other.<\/em><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s the jazz connection in all of this.
