{"id":229,"date":"2008-07-15T22:26:43","date_gmt":"2008-07-15T22:26:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/jazztheologian\/2008\/07\/responsible.html"},"modified":"2008-07-15T22:26:43","modified_gmt":"2008-07-15T22:26:43","slug":"responsible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/jazztheologian\/2008\/07\/responsible.html","title":{"rendered":"Responsible"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well I&#8217;m back from my vacation just in time to catch opening day for The Dark Knight&#8230;It&#8217;s good to be back with th incredible servants of CCC&#8230;one of the great things about vacation was all the unhurried time that I was able to spend with my children&#8230;for example&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>Barbara and I have been working with one of our sons on responsibility for a while now. \u00a0I sat down next to him and said, &#8220;I have something to tell you that is going to change your life.&#8221; \u00a0<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>&#8220;What&#8217;s that?&#8221; \u00a0He said.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>I replied, &#8220;You can&#8217;t be responsible.&#8221; \u00a0He looked puzzled. \u00a0After all we have been taking every chance to teach him how to do this. \u00a0&#8220;No, you can&#8217;t be responsible. It&#8217;s not possible.&#8221; \u00a0<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>&#8220;But you&#8217;ve been telling me&#8230;&#8221;<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>&#8220;I know,&#8221; I said, &#8220;but you can never do it&#8230;&#8221;
