{"id":218,"date":"2008-10-21T15:50:15","date_gmt":"2008-10-21T15:50:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/jazztheologian\/2008\/10\/i-like-these-people-p4-dinner-with-barack.html"},"modified":"2008-10-21T15:50:15","modified_gmt":"2008-10-21T15:50:15","slug":"i-like-these-people-p4-dinner-with-barack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/jazztheologian\/2008\/10\/i-like-these-people-p4-dinner-with-barack.html","title":{"rendered":"I like these people&#8230; (p4)&#8211;Dinner with Barack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jazztheologian.com\/.a\/6a00d8341c63c953ef010535a158b5970c-pi\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Obama\" border=\"0\" class=\"at-xid-6a00d8341c63c953ef010535a158b5970c \" src=\"https:\/\/www.jazztheologian.com\/.a\/6a00d8341c63c953ef010535a158b5970c-120pi\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWell, now that I&#039;ve had dinner with the VP candidates it&#039;s time to break bread with the top of the tickets. &#160;If I were able to dine with Obama I&#039;d jazz things up a bit. &#160;My questions for him would be&#8230;<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px;font-family: Georgia\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Can you get past the first two words of the Lord&#039;s Prayer?<\/span><\/span> &#160;(As a man who never had a daddy, I know first hand what it feels like to discover God as your Father. &#160;Usually when I pray the Lord&#039;s prayer I camp out on, &quot;Our Father.&quot;)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px;font-family: Georgia\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Who are you and how do you know?<\/span><\/span> &#160;(Being an African-American, literally, the son of an African and an American the journey to identity must have been hard fought. &#160;He has shared some of this in his books but I&#039;d want to know more about the source of his true identity.)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px;font-family: Georgia\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Are you a&#160;compromised&#160;man?<\/span><\/span> &#160;(This is not meant to be a political question. &#160;In his book, <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Audacious Hope<\/span>, he demonstrated a desire for creative tension. &#160;That is, holding on to two sides of an argument and pursuing a third way. &#160;I like this approach but I wonder what the cost are&#8230;)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size: 16px;font-family: Georgia\">Did people make fun of you because your initials are B.
