Bible prophecy is being fulfilled at an astonishing rate, yet ironically, growing numbers of people within the Evangelical world (once a bastion of prophecy teaching) seem unaware of it.<\/p>\n

A recent blog post<\/a> illustrates this fact, as a specific New Testament prophecy comes into view. In a post titled, \u201cMust Christians Believe in a Second Coming?\u201d Chuck Queen questions whether we need to believe in a literal, bodily Second Coming of Jesus Christ:<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a species we are probably not past adolescence in our moral and spiritual evolution. Terrorist groups are on the rise. Massive systemic injustice abounds in governments, economic systems, and institutions of all types. At times it seems as if we may not even survive as a species. If I believed in some kind of divine intervention it would sure be easier \u2014 I could then sit back and wait for Christ to come and clean up this mess.\u201d<\/p>\n

Queen then gets more specific:<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not waiting for Jesus to personally return in bodily form, but I am convinced that the spiritual presence of the cosmic Christ is already here pervading this world and this universe.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, opposite the Temple Mount. Jesus will return to the Mount of Olives at a time appointed by God the Father, according to Scripture.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Queen evidently doesn\u2019t believe in a bodily return of Jesus Christ to the earth, as was prophesied in Scripture (the following after the apostles watched Jesus disappear from view above the Mount of Olives):<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. \u2018Men of Galilee,\u2019 they said, \u2018why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.\u2019\u201d (Acts 1:10,11)<\/p>\n

Scores of self-described Christian leaders (Brian McLaren) poo-poos the idea of a Second Coming. What was once taboo to talk about is becoming mainstream. Yet note this very specific prophecy from 2 Peter 3:3,4\u2014<\/p>\n

\u201cAbove all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, \u2018Where is this \u2018coming\u2019 he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

This is amazing! We now live in a time when leaders in the Church are fulfilling this very prophecy.<\/p>\n
