Social commentator Dennis Miller tweeted an appropriate thought today:<\/p>\n

“Humans are not wired to believe the world has gone this insane.”<\/p>\n

It calls to mind an article I read in USA Today years ago. A psychologist said\u2014I’m paraphrasing\u2014that ancient man went through the mental stress of fighting, say, a saber-tooth tiger every so often. But, he said, today’s man and woman fight the emotional equivalent of a tiger every day!<\/p>\n

What a descriptive way to put it.<\/p>\n

The dark news of the day invades our every thought and moment. Mass murder in Boston. Mass explosion in Texas. Vicious, rancorous debate over gun control. In my world, I find it disturbing to watch the erosion of belief in the authority of Scripture. On and on it goes.<\/p>\n

A few months ago, I visited Jerusalem’s Garden of Gethsemane. At one time, it was a place of great pain and anguish. Today, however, it is a place of serenity and calm.

If nothing else, the place is a reminder that God promises a future free from pain, rage, and fiends. A world no longer insane.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
