There is a most compelling prophecy given in Psalm 83\u2014although it is controversial (some do not believe it is a prophecy meant for the end times). In essence, the Psalmist asks the Lord to preserve Israel against her enemies, and the enemies are listed. They happen to correspond to the nations that immediately surround Israel today. And the situation grows worse by the day. It is now rumored that Hamas’s Khaled Mashaal will try to supplant Mahmoud Abbas as president of the Palestinians. Although the two differ only in tactics to use to destroy Israel, Mashaal would represent a decidedly more hostile face to peace efforts.<\/p>\n

Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
\nFor, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

\nO my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
\nAs the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
\nSo persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
\nFill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
\nLet them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
