Doctors are hopeful that Hamlin will be able to start talking soon. In a press conference held Thursday, doctors said Hamlin is conscious and awake. He even wrote a note to his doctors asking if the Bills won the Monday night game. His doctors replied, \u201cYes, Damar. You won. You won the game of life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Dr. Timothy Pritts, division chief of general surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, there has been \u201csubstantial improvement\u201d over the past day. He continued, \u201cWe had significant concern about him after the injury and after the event that happened on the field, but he\u2019s making substantial progress.\u201d Pritts said that Hamlin started waking up on Thursday morning, and \u201chis neurological condition and function are intact.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">&#8220;You won Damar. Hamlin\u2019s agent, Ron Butler, confirmed Hamlin\u2019s positive developments as the Bills were set to start practicing for the first time since his heart stopped during Monday night\u2019s game.<\/p>\n<p>Mario Hamlin, Damar\u2019s father, spoke with the Bills team earlier this week, letting them know he was making progress after the terrifying ordeal. All love 3!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BuffaloBills\/status\/1611021908849352704?s=20&amp;t=jjuMqr-z0h3Mrhb82fYqag\">The Buffalo Bills also released a statement<\/a> discussing Damar\u2019s \u201cremarkable improvement over the past 24 hours.\u201d A team statement reads, \u201cPer the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours. While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal, and he is making steady progress.\u201d The statement concludes, \u201cWe are grateful for the love and support we have received.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Damar\u2019s family says they are also grateful for the support and prayers. Hamlin\u2019s marketing representative, Jordon Rooney, said, \u201cThey are elated right now. Damar is still their first concern. But for them, they always look at how they can turn a somewhat troubling situation into a good one. The bounce back from this, for him and his family, is going to be incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during Monday night\u2019s game, it seemed like a regular tackle that we see during football season.
