In modern times, it\u2019s rare for a good Samaritan to step in on behalf of someone else. In this story, a Chick-fil-A employee is hailed as a hero after tackling an alleged carjacker in Florida. According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff\u2019s Office, a woman had been taking an infant out of her car at the Chick-fil-A when the suspect, 43-year-old William Branch, allegedly approached her while wielding a stick.<\/p>\n

He then demanded her keys before grabbing them from her waistband and getting into the car. The woman then began screaming for help. That\u2019s when a Chick-fil-A employee intervened, authorities say.<\/p>\n

A one-minute\u00a0video<\/a>\u00a0from a bystander outside the Fort Walton Beach fast-food restaurant shows the Chick-fil-A worker tackling a man and wrestling with him on the ground as a woman holding a baby screams, \u201cSomebody help!\u201d<\/p>\n

The video also shows that the employee put the man in a headlock and held him down within seconds. The employee then got on his feet and placed his hands on the man, who sat on the ground without fighting or trying to escape. The employee was punched in the face by Branch, according to authorities. Eventually, other employees and patrons jumped in to assist the employee.<\/p>\n

Deputies arrived to arrest Branch, who now faces carjacking charges with a weapon and battery. Matthew Sexton, the operator of the Fort Walton Beach Chick-fil-A location, said in a statement,
\n\u201cWe\u2019re so relieved that our Guests and Team Members are safe following this alarming incident. I\u2019m grateful for my amazing Team Member, Mykel Gordon, who so selflessly jumped in to intervene and help our Guests. I couldn\u2019t be prouder of his incredible act of care.\u201d<\/p>\n
