Under the agreements, US Soccer will become the first Federation to equalize FIFA World Cup prize money given to the teams for participation in World Cups.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the agreement, US Soccer will share a portion of its \u201cbroadcast, partner and sponsorship revenue with a 50\/50 split of that share divided equally between USWNT and USMNT.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>US Soccer President Cindy Parlow called the deal \u201ca truly historic moment\u201d in a statement. She continued, \u201cThese agreements have changed the game forever here in the United States and have the potential to change the game around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cone added: \u201cUS Soccer and the USWNT and USMNT players have reset their relationship with these new agreements and are leading us forward to an incredibly exciting new phase of mutual growth and collaboration as we continue our mission to become the preeminent sport in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey said equal pay for men and women was not possible, but that did not stop us, and we went ahead and achieved it,\u201d said Walker Zimmerman, a member of the USNSTPA leadership group. Zimmerman added, \u201cWe hope this will awaken others to the need for this type of change and will inspire FIFA and others around the world to move in the same direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The deal also includes child care, parental leave, short-term disability, mental health impairment, travel, and equal quality of venues and field playing surfaces. Actress Jessica Chastain tweeted \u201cGooooooal!\u201d after the announcement was made public, reflecting the mood of many on social media.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6301\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6301\" style=\"width: 592px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/89\/2022\/02\/Capture1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6301\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/89\/2022\/02\/Capture1-350x174.png\" alt=\"rapinoe\" width=\"592\" height=\"294\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6301\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Courtesy: Simon Bruty \/ Sports Illustrated via Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Earlier this year, US Soccer and the USWNT\u00a0reached an agreement to end a dispute over equal pay\u00a0dating back to March 2019, when the USWNT filed a gender discrimination lawsuit against US Soccer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope that this agreement and its historic achievements in not only providing for equal pay but also in improving the training and playing environment for National Team players will similarly serve as the foundation for continued growth of women\u2019s soccer both in the United States and abroad,\u201d said USWNT player and USWNTPA President Becky Sauerbrunn.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the agreement, US Soccer paid $22 million to the players in the case and an additional $2 million into an account. These funds are meant \u201cto benefit USWNT players in their post-career goals and charitable efforts related to women\u2019s and girls\u2019 soccer,\u201d according to a joint statement from US Soccer and the USWNT.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s equal pay announcement comes six months before the USMNT is scheduled to participate in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which starts on November 21. This equal pay deal shows that you should never give up on what you feel you deserve. The women\u2019s soccer team worked just as hard as the men\u2019s soccer team and thought they weren\u2019t getting their due.
