Some parents feel they cannot help their child with their schoolwork or with lessons in a particular area of interest because they aren’t the strongest in those areas. Then, there are those parents that are super busy that don’t have time to sit down and go over demanding classwork. Others find their children are more receptive to working out their schoolwork or learning with another person. If you are struggling to help your child with the subjects they are studying in, it can really leave you feeling disappointed, helpless, and defeated. Tutoring is a great way to strengthen subject comprehension, build-essential learning skills, and boost self-confidence. Tutoring gives children the individualized attention that they need but may not get in a classroom. It also gives children who are struggling with the opportunity to keep up and challenge those who aren’t challenged enough.

For the day three days of service challenge, consider tutoring a child in need. It’s an enriching experience that can help a child in need. Tutoring is not only a way that you can help increase your understanding of a subject. It also builds confidence in the child you are tutoring. The great thing about tutoring is you can choose your topic, an area that you have the knowledge and you’re comfortable with. Now, you shouldn’t claim to be able to teach something that you can’t teach, but just because you haven’t taught a subject before doesn’t mean you can’t tutor or offer help.

Some people are not in positions to pay tutors, especially when they have more than one child, mounting bills, and financial obligations. This is where you can be a real blessing to someone in need. As an act of service, consider offering to tutor a child without pay. If you are already a tutor, and it’s something you want to do for an extended period, consider offering a session that’s free to start with, and continue each session at a discounted rate. You can be more a blessing to a child than you even realize. Just a few sessions can make a real difference. Are you ready for the challenge?

Every day is a new opportunity to #LightTheWorld.
