For a family that is no stranger to hard times, they know now more than ever the importance of hope, and are choosing to spread that message within their community. As global pandemic efforts continue, a California family decided to bring a message of hope to city residents with flower bouquets.<\/p>\n
Wanting to spread some much needed joy in their city, a family from Winters, California decided to leave flower bouquets on residents doorsteps.<\/p>\n
The family of five has overcome quite a few challenges this year. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Michelle McClain began her fight with cancer during the third month of her last pregnancy. Thankfully she is in remission, but her fight continues.<\/p>\n
“Everybody needs a little love right now. We got all the attention and love when we needed it so we figured we’ll spread some of the love we got,\u201d her husband, Mike McClain said in an interview.<\/p>\n
The overwhelming support the family received from their community inspired the family in their flower project.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019d get flowers, people would drop off food, people were doing more than anyone could imagine to help us out while we were struggling with what life was giving us,\u201d Mike McClain expressed.<\/p>\n
The family refers to their six year old daughter as the \u201cflower ninja\u201d for her quiet and speedy runs to leave bouquets at doorsteps. The family has even created a Facebook page called \u201cFlower Ninja\u201d for the lucky receivers to share photos on.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like doing it cause everyone is inside and can\u2019t go anywhere, and it is super fun,\u201d the six year old said.
\nThe act of kindness not only made people happy, but it also gave the family the opportunity to support one of their favorite local businesses.<\/p>\n
Kristen Karlen, who is the owner of Roxie\u2019s Flower Truck was happy to be a part of the family\u2019s acts of kindness.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re doing more than just helping the receiver of the gifts,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s helping my flower business, the flower farmers in our area where I get the flowers, and all those people witnessing their acts of kindness.\u201d<\/p>\n
The florist says the family has created a domino effect in their community and people have been reaching out with requests for bouquets to surprise their neighbors with.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis morning a lady bought some bouquets and dropped them off to the people who serve lunch every day to kids,\u201d the florist said. She continued by expressing that when she started her business, her intentions were to spread joy and happiness.
