In a recent interview with \u201cThe Pure Flix Podcast\u201d Dr. Jeff Huxford shared how his near-death experience and traumatic brain injury he suffered during a\u00a0car accident\u00a0brought him closer to God.<\/p>\n

Prior to his injury, Dr. Huxford was a successful family medical doctor but the near fatal car accident he was in changed the course of his life.<\/p>\n

Huxford was driving to pick up some items at a local hardware store when the collision occurred. Things changed in a matter of seconds.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stopped at the stop light, but a truck going the other way did not stop\u2026[and] pushed my truck into a concrete pole,\u201d Huxford shared in an interview with PureFlix. \u201cMy head went through the driver\u2019s side window and hit the pole\u2026they had cut me out with the jaws of life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Huxford was transported to Chicago to receive treatment for his injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a miracle that I survived,\u201d he said. The severe traumatic brain injury forced him to undergo changes that would last his entire life.<\/p>\n

He wanted for things to go back to the way they were before the accident but the injuries didn\u2019t allow for this outcome. The accident forced him to retire due to complications from the brain injury. He had to leave his decade-long career as a physician.<\/p>\n

While the injury took his career away, he gained something in the process \u2013 a closer relationship with God. He also found His greater purpose Christ.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis brain injury might have taken a lot from me, but it has given me a lot,\u201d he said. Huxford acknowledged that his Christian faith was a huge benefit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think over time I got really comfortable in my faith and it became more of a checklist type thing where I was making sure I was checking the right boxes,\u201d he said. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t about a relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then he heard a special sermon that really transformed his faith. The sermon was about the importance of not being a lukewarm Christian. Right in that moment, he came to a realization. He has been one of those lukewarm Christians, Huxford said.<\/p>\n

After he heard this sermon, he felt his faith was finally focused and his spirit woke up;.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would never wish a traumatic brain injury on a person,\u201d he said. \u201cBut if that\u2019s what it took for me to find Jesus and learn about Jesus in the way I needed to then I would do it all again.\u201d<\/p>\n
