When Daniel Tes realized he couldn’t make payroll at his Arizona doughnut shop, he faced a heartbreaking reality familiar to many small business owners. Instead of giving up, he humbled himself, prayed, and asked his community for help. What happened next exceeded anything he expected.<\/p>\n

Tes, owner of The Local Donut in Scottsdale, told FOX 10 Phoenix<\/a> that after 10 years in business, this summer became the toughest season the shop had ever faced.<\/p>\n

“A lot of small businesses deal with it, but this year was different,” Tes said. “We felt the pressure after spring training to get things ready for summer, and we just couldn’t catch up. Last week was probably our worst. We couldn’t make payroll.”<\/p>\n

With his employees’ livelihoods hanging in the balance, Tes took a difficult step. He turned to social media, openly sharing the shop’s financial struggles and asking both the community and God for help.<\/p>\n

His honest plea struck a chord.<\/p>\n

The very next day, customers filled the shop, creating lines that stretched through the store as longtime regulars and first-time visitors came to support the struggling business. The overwhelming response not only generated much-needed sales but also reminded Tes that he wasn’t facing the challenge alone.<\/p>\n

The generosity didn’t stop with customers. Other local businesses stepped in as well, prepaying for doughnuts for future customers in a pay-it-forward effort that reflected the strength of the Scottsdale community.<\/p>\n

“There’s a lot of selfless people out there, a lot of generous people,” Tes said, expressing gratitude for the unexpected outpouring of support.<\/p>\n

Many loyal customers said they were thankful they had the opportunity to help preserve a neighborhood favorite.<\/p>\n

“They’ve got a lot of great options as well as super friendly people, so it’s a great time to come in here real quick for a doughnut,” regular customer Harris Dozier told FOX 10.<\/p>\n

For Christians, Tes’ story echoes the biblical reminder that God often works through the generosity and compassion of others. While Scripture doesn’t promise an easy road for business owners, it repeatedly encourages believers to cast their cares on the Lord and trust Him to provide in unexpected ways.<\/p>\n

Now, with his shop back on firmer footing, Tes says he hopes to extend the same kindness he was shown.<\/p>\n

“People are there to help out,” he said. “And I definitely want to pay it forward as well too.”<\/p>\n
