For many high school girls, prom is one of the biggest nights of the year. But for families struggling financially, the cost of dresses, shoes, and accessories can quickly make the milestone feel out of reach.<\/p>\n

That’s why members of St. Andrew Methodist Church are stepping in to help \u2014 and making sure hundreds of teenage girls feel celebrated along the way.<\/p>\n

The Texas megachurch recently hosted its 17th annual “Prom Closet” event, transforming donated gowns and accessories into a boutique-style shopping experience at no cost. Over the course of two weeks, from February 24 through March 7, more than 1,400 girls visited the church’s campus in search of the perfect prom outfit.<\/p>\n

What started in 2009 as a small ministry idea has now become a massive outreach effort fueled by faith, generosity, and community support.<\/p>\n

“The daughter of one of the women’s group leaders worked for a local school district,” a church spokesperson told The Christian Post. “She had noticed a huge need for girls to acquire prom attire so they could attend their senior proms.”<\/p>\n

That observation sparked a ministry that continues to grow year after year.<\/p>\n

This year’s Prom Closet featured more than 5,000 dresses ranging in sizes 1 to 30. But the event offered much more than gowns. Girls could also select free shoes, jewelry, handbags, and wraps to complete their look for the big night.<\/p>\n

Many of the dresses were donated by church members, local businesses, community groups, and organizations. Some were even purchased new through an Amazon wish list shared by the church.<\/p>\n

The outreach has become so well known that families now travel from neighboring states like Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma to participate.<\/p>\n

Behind the scenes, around 1,000 volunteers helped organize the event, assist shoppers, and create an atmosphere that made every girl feel valued.<\/p>\n

“I’m so proud of the women who first had the vision for Prom Closet and the countless others who have carried it forward,” said Senior Pastor Arthur Jones. “Their faithfulness has allowed this ministry to touch the lives of so many in our community and beyond.”<\/p>\n

Church leaders say the mission goes far beyond formalwear.<\/p>\n

“No matter what the girls and their families may be facing in their lives, during the shopping experience they are surrounded by love, affirmation, and care,” said Rev. Allyson Johnson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
