Her parents, Golden Whitrod and her husband, have been on a heart-wrenching journey since Tallulah’s sudden decline shortly after her first birthday. \u201cShe went from a little girl who was walking and talking to suddenly not even being able to sit up on her own,\u201d Golden shared. The family\u2019s search for answers finally led to a diagnosis of SPG56, a disease so rare that there are fewer than one in a million cases.<\/p>\n

Despite the devastating news and doctors\u2019 grim advice to \u201cjust love your baby,\u201d Golden refused to give up. Inspired by another parent fighting a similar battle, she embarked on her own journey to create a life-saving treatment for Tallulah. After years of research and collaboration with experts, the family now has hope\u2014an experimental gene therapy that could halt the progression of the disease.<\/p>\n

But the cost is staggering: $3 million. Faced with few options, the Whitrods have made the painful decision to auction their dream home to fund the clinical trials. \u201cWe realized that we have to fund this on our own if we want to do this,\u201d Golden explained.<\/p>\n

Though they are losing their dream home, Golden and her husband have set their sights on a bigger dream\u2014giving Tallulah the life she deserves and helping other children who face similar challenges. Their initiative, Our Moon\u2019s Mission<\/a>, aims not only to raise funds for Tallulah\u2019s treatment but also to create a framework for future gene therapies that could save countless lives.<\/p>\n
