Hurricane Francine made landfall as a category 2 hurricane in Louisiana in September, bringing with it devastating destruction. One woman\u2019s miraculous rescue, however, was caught on camera<\/a>. Police officers from the Ascension Parish Sheriff\u2019s Office\u00a0responded to a call around 8pm in the small town of Donaldsonville about a woman trapped under a tree. The woman had been outside during the storm when a tree had been knocked over top of her. Bodycam footage shows her rescuers working tirelessly to free her, using chainsaws and jacks to get through the wood.<\/p>\n

The woman\u2019s panic and fear could be heard clearly as she shouted multiple times, \u201cI need my God! I need my Jesus!\u201d Deputy Laura Mueller used her training to coach the woman on how to breath and remain calm. \u201cI am grateful I was able to guide her through breathing exercises to help calm her,\u201d she said<\/a> after the rescue. Rescuers worked for 40 minutes to pull the woman out from under the tree. Mueller said the woman was \u201cunderstandably shaken and distressed by the situation.\u201d She was taken to the hospital with non-fatal injuries. Captain Jeff Griffin praised God after the rescue. \u201cThe Good Lord was with her. Six inches one way or the other and it would have crushed her,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Hurricane Francine knocked out power for thousands of Louisiana residents, with 450,000 reporting they were without power at its peak. About 500 people made their way to emergency shelters. Flooding remained a concern, but thankfully no storm-related fatalities have been reported. \u201cThe human spirit is defined by its resiliency, and resiliency is what defines Louisiana,\u201d said<\/a> Louisiana governor Jeff Landry at a press conference. \u201cCertainly, there are times and situations that try us, but it is also when we in this state are at our very best.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
