As actress Danica McKellar reads through the Bible, she finds inspiration in Joseph\u2019s story, whose character helped him rise \u201cto the top\u201d of success. She said on Great American Community, \u201cOne of the Old Testament stories that stuck with me most is from Genesis, and that\u2019s Joseph\u2019s story. What really struck me about Joseph\u2019s story is that he says God was with him during these times, when he was sold into slavery and when he was thrown into prison and all this stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cWhatever Joseph was, he rose to the top because people recognized, well, this guy is kind of special. You know, let\u2019s put him in charge of more things. He was the favorite prisoner. He was the favorite slave, and then he got more power and position because of that.\u201d She imagines that Joseph performed all of his tasks joyfully, without complaint. The \u201cWonder Years\u201d actress said, \u201cIt\u2019s like if you had to mop the floors, he\u2019s doing the best job he could do because he was with God. God was with him. He felt it.\u201d<\/p>\n

McKellar explained, \u201cAnd this idea that no matter what we\u2019re doing, we could do it with true joy if we are connected to our relationship with God is incredible. Doing the dishes, whatever it is. You know, my dad found spirituality, his faith, his relationship with Jesus about 20, 25 years ago, and I remember him telling me about it at the time, and he was actually, he had some kind of difficult times financially.\u201d His business had severe debts, and the future did not look good. She said, \u201cAnd I remember him sharing with me at the time that he had told his business partners, he\u2019s like, \u2018What if we do all the things we still have to do but with joy?\u2019\u201d She imagines Joseph\u2019s attitude was like her dad\u2019s, as he kept his head up in troubled times and chose to be joyful.<\/p>\n
