A football player is thanking God for not being blinded in an accident where he suffered burns on his face. He\u2019s since created a new line of merchandise to raise awareness about the plight of burn injuries. When speaking to reporters, Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku declared, \u201cI give all the glory to God\u201d for surviving the accident.<\/p>\n

He recalled, \u201cWhen it happened, my eyes were open. I saw everything. I really should have been blinded.\u201d Njoku reiterated that he was giving \u201call the glory to God,\u201d acknowledging that \u201cluckily, I\u2019m not blind.\u201d The Browns\u2019 official website initially noted that Njoku suffered burn injuries to his arm and face in a \u201chousehold\u201d accident in a Sept. 30 statement announcing his addition to the injury list as his participation in the following day\u2019s game against the Baltimore Ravens remained \u201cquestionable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Njoku alluded to his injuries in a\u00a0Sept. 30 post<\/a>\u00a0on X and suggested he intended to play in the game anyway. \u201cThe flesh is weak,\u201d he wrote. \u201cSee u tomorrow #DawgPound.\u201d Ultimately, Njoku participated in the game, wearing a mask on his face. He shared a photo of the injuries he sustained in an Instagram post. Speaking to reporters, he explained that he shared the picture of his injured face after receiving messages from other burn victims and nurses who have burn victims.<\/p>\n

Njoku said, \u201cThey were telling me how like everybody feels embarrassed to show whatever, so I wanted just to come out for them and show myself so everyone might feel a little bit better about themselves. At the end of the day, things heal.\u201d The tight end recently launched a new merchandise collection called \u201cWithstand\u201d on MILLIONS. The company\u2019s website characterizes MILLIONs as \u201ca unique platform built to help athletes make money and grow their brand and following.\u201d<\/p>\n
