The Nebraska women\u2019s volleyball program already has five national championships. Now, it also has the attendance record for a women\u2019s sporting event. Nebraska hosted a celebration of volleyball at Memorial Stadium, which featured an exhibition match between Division II programs Nebraska-Kearney and Wayne State, a concert from country artist Scotty McCreery and a showdown between Omaha and the Cornhuskers.<\/p>\n

The program announced that a record-setting 92,003 people were in attendance for the marquee volleyball match. Nebraska\u2019s Memorial Stadium, used for the football team, has an official capacity of 85,000, but more people could attend this exhibition game due to seating set up on the field. That it was the Cornhuskers to set this record was fitting since they sold out 306 consecutive regular-season matches and have led the country in attendance every year since 2013.<\/p>\n

Before the event, All-Big Ten First Team player and Nebraska star Lexi Rodriguez agreed to a Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) contract with Adidas. She said, \u201cI\u2019ve seen first-hand just how committed Adidas is to the sport and pushing forward the women\u2019s game. I\u2019m so proud to officially join the three stripes family and kick off this new chapter of my career in volleyball.\u201d<\/p>\n
