Anderson told the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/god-has-been-so-good-country-star-coffey-anderson-on\/id1401499962?i=1000622389377\">Higher Ground With Billy Hallowell<\/a>\u201d podcast, \u201cWhen I\u2019m writing these songs, when I\u2019m looking at what our culture needs. I\u2019m asking the Holy Spirit to lead me. I\u2019m asking for songs that are going to give people opportunities to make memories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The singer explicitly discussed the importance of boundaries in life, sharing his belief that faith gives humans essential liberties and protections. Anderson said, \u201cBoundaries give you freedom. And a lot of times, in a world where I can do what I want, be what I want, say what I want, pick who I want to be, it\u2019s not the truth. There\u2019s been guidelines and laws and commandments set up so we can live in freedom by having God.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cCountry Ever After\u201d star said his faith has afforded him a chance to speak through his platform about the power God has to guide and sustain humans\u2019 lives, saying, \u201cMy faith has always given me a chance, and this platform has given me a chance \u2026 to talk about the goodness of God. God has been so good to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pKrNfcKcgJY\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Despite losing his best friend to teen suicide years ago, his mom passing away at an early age, and navigating his wife Criscilla\u2019s stage IV colon cancer battle, the country star believes the Lord has never abandoned him, even amid those struggles. Anderson said, \u201cGod has been there. Sometimes we forget about the goodness of God, so my music is a reflection of what I\u2019ve been through.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for Criscilla, he said she continues to battle nodules that transferred from her colon to her lungs. She\u2019s not \u201cout of the woods\u201d and courageously seeks healing. Anderson also addressed starring in the recent film \u201cGod\u2019s Country Song\u201d on Pure Flix and heralded the importance of fatherhood, a topic celebrated in the movie.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThere\u2019s nothing toxic about being masculine. There\u2019s nothing toxic about being a good daddy.\u201d The singer continued, \u201cToxic people come in all forms and fashions. Don\u2019t tell me my masculinity is toxic when it\u2019s proven that a good dad minimizes the opportunity of people going to prison.
