A Kentucky family that lost their home last year in a flood was moved to tears after they were gifted with a new home built by over 150 volunteers from seven states in only 11 days, thanks to a Christian charity\u2019s efforts.<\/p>\n

After she saw her new home, Jamie Smith, the matriarch of the Letcher County family that lost their home, told WYMT<\/a>, \u201cIn what time that they\u2019ve been here that they could do something this beautiful, it\u2019s remarkable.\u201d The funding and volunteers for the new Smith family home came from the efforts of the nonprofit crisis response organization God\u2019s Pit Crew.<\/a><\/p>\n

According to their website, the organization \u201caims to become one of the most effective disaster relief organizations in America so that we can continue responding as God leads to hurting people in times of crisis, whether it be across the street or around the world.\u201d Randy Johnson, who founded God\u2019s Pit Crew with his wife Terri in 1999, told WCHS<\/a>, \u201cWe just felt compelled to try and do something to help them get their lives back together. So after all of our interview processes, we chose them, and we\u2019re thankful we were able to raise the funds.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their website says that God\u2019s Pit Crew is also helping with the disaster in Winona, Mississippi, after 26 people died in a tornado that caused widespread damage. They\u2019re also responding to emergencies in Adamsville, Tennessee and Little Rock, Arkansas, where residents suffered tornado damage. Shortly before giving them the new keys to their home, Randy Johnson told the Smith Family, \u201cWe\u2019ve built a lot of houses over the years, and they\u2019re all special, but I can\u2019t tell you how many volunteers and people have said there\u2019s something different about this one. And we don\u2019t know what it is, but it\u2019s special, and I say it\u2019s because of you all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s more than we could have ever dreamed of<\/a>, and we are forever grateful to God\u2019s Pit Crew because from the beginning to the end of this process, they have been absolutely wonderful,\u201d Smith said of her new home. She said her husband is an instrument maker, and they saved some from the flood, and she was touched by how the builders included the preserved instruments in their new home\u2019s design.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe makes instruments, and these instruments he had made, we saved them from our house. They didn\u2019t get in the water, and we were able to save them, so that meant a whole lot. Just the little touches that they\u2019ve put on the house. I mean, you know, they just think of everything,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019ve lost everything, you wonder where to go from here. I could have never dreamed we would be here today,\u201d she added. \u201cGod is good. God is amazing, and we are so blessed.\u201d As Smith stated, losing all your possessions can be devastating, and you wonder what will come next, but God always has a plan in place. He\u2019ll never leave or forsake you, and He\u2019ll always ensure you have everything you need.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
